La famille de Phil Lynott prévoit, pour célébrer ce qui aurait été son 60 ème anniversaire, une exposition à la Green Gallery de Dublin. Y seront exposés pas mal de choses, et en particulier des peintures, rendant hommage au grand Phil.

Nouvelle très sympa où Vivian Campbell fait part de sa réelle satisfaction d'avoir participé au renouveau du groupe , groupe qui l'a tant influencé lorsqu'il était jeune. A noter aussi que les membres du groupe n'ont pas hésité à lui dire qu'il pouvait revenir quand il voulait puisque Campbell devait assurer ses engagements avec Def Leppard.

Philip Lynott Exhibition returns for second run!

The Philip Lynott Exhibition returns to the Stephen's Green Shopping Centre in Dublin for a second run, beginning on Wednesday July 6

The highly acclaimed exhibition, which brought visitors to Dublin from all over the world since it opened in March, will now run through the months of July and August, with a programme of events being lined up to bring additional fun and entertainment to the run. Full details will be announced over the coming weeks.

The exhibition is being supported by Dublin's Radio Nova (100.3 FM), who were instrumental in the decision to re-open the exhibition.

"It really is a fantastic exhibition," Radio Nova chief executive Kevin Branigan commented. "Philip Lynott and Thin Lizzy are such an extraordinary Irish rock legend, so it is brilliant to see their career celebrated in this way. Some of the personal material from Philip's childhood, the hand-written song lyrics and so on are stunning."

"All of the presenters here at Nova are very excited about it," he added. "Among all the great Irish bands, Thin Lizzy stand out as being especially important to Radio Nova and to its listenership, so it is a great privilege for us to be involved in this amazing celebration of the band and their legacy."

The run will encompass Philip Lynott's birthday, on August 20, when a special Samba Band tribute is already planned for the city.

"A lot of people will come to Dublin to catch the exhibition over the summer, and especially around Philip's birthday," Mark Hogan of Hot Press said. "The exhibition was so positively received by everyone who attended that we have continued to get emails and requests from overseas, asking us about getting to see it. It is something that we want to share with the wider community of Thin Lizzy fans, all over Ireland - and indeed all over the world - so it is great to be able to work with Radio Nova to make this happen."

The Philip Lynott Exhibition will return to The Stephen's Green Shopping Centre in Dublin from July 6 – August 31, 2011.

There will be a new Thin Lizzy box set this year – and it will feature never before heard songs.
Apparently, just before he died in 1986, Phil Lynott gave 150 tapes to someone for safekeeping. These have surfaced and been acquired by Universal Music; some of the recordings will be released in the new box set.

Fans can expect to hear outtakes, previously unheard versions of Lizzy songs, plus material the band recorded but never previously available. This covers the period from 1971 to 1981.

The full details of what will be included has yet to be revealed. However, it is being done with the direct involvement of guitarist Scott Gorham and drummer Brian Downey.

Tomorrow (January 4) marks the 26th anniversary of Lynott’s death. It will be marked by the annual Vibe For Philo gig at the Button Factory in Dublin.

Mercury/Universal Music va publier le 13 mars prochain un DVD "Live At The National Stadium – Dublin".
Ce DVD contiendra la prestation du groupe filmé par la chaine RTE en 1975.

Dans une interview Marco Mendoza a laissé filtrer certaines indiscrétions selon qu'après la présente tournée le groupe va entrer en studio 30 ans après leur dernier album studio.

Thin Lizzy will gather to start recording work today. Guitarist Damon Johnson tweeted last night: “Thin Lizzy enters the recording studio tomorrow with electric guitars and amps a-blazin’, and Brian Downey’s full drumkit.”
Frontman Ricky Warwick recently said: “We’re all working really great together as a band. Let’s get in there and see what ideas we have and take it from there.” He added they won’t record a full album unless they “100 percent believe in” the material.

Il y a juste une chose qui m'ennuie un peu : que le groupe tourne sous le nom de Thin Lizzy en reprenant les grands classiques d'accord. Mais avec des nouvelles chansons on peut se poser quelques questions sur la légitimité.

The new Thin Lizzy album will not follow Phil Lynott’s last music footsteps, says guitarist Damon Johnson. He reports: “Towards the original end they made Thunder and Lightning. That album was so heavy – it seemed Phil wanted to go down a heavy metal route for a while. That’s not what the new album will be. There are some big, fat classic riffs. We all know it’s going to be under the microscope. We know there will be pundits who criticise it, but pundits aren’t necessarily fans.”

Of frontman Ricky Warwick Johnson says: “The guy is a class songwriter, and that’s what Scott Gorham and Brian Downey needed to make another Thin Lizzy record.”

Le nouvel album n'empruntera pas le chemin musical qu'avait emprunté Phil Lynott a révélé le guitariste Damon Johnson. Voici ce qu'il rapporte : "A la fin du line-up originel, ils ont publié Thunder And Lightning. L'album était si heavy qu'il semblait que Phil voulait se diriger pendant un temps vers une voie plus heavy. Ce n'est pas ce que sera le nouvel album. Il y a de bons gros riffs classiques. Nous savons tous qu'il sera disséqué. Nous savons qu'il y aura des spécialistes pour nous critiquer mais les spécialistes ne sont pas nécessairement des fans"

A propos de Ricky Warwick, voici ce que Johnson rapporte : "c'est un songwriter de talent et c'est ce dont avaient besoin et Scott Gorham et Brian Downey pour faire un nouvel album."

@ Aria : il reste au moins trois membres historiques. On peut aisément comprendre qu'ils aient envie de garder le nom.

Désolé Phil mais, en tout respect, je ne suis pas d'accord. Le nom Lizzy c'est pour le répertoire Lizzy, pour le reste ça me gêne énormément.

La question est difficile à trancher.
D'un côté, sans la signature de Phil, je pense qu'on ne peut pas parler d'un album de Thin Lizzy.
De l'autre, cette formation tourne sous ce nom et est maintenant connue, notamment pas les plus jeunes, comme "Thin Lizzy". Créer une nouvelle identité serait difficile... Je peux le comprendre mais je ne le cautionne pas.

Une nouvelle bio sortira le 16 novembre :

Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham’s memoir, “The Boys Are Back In Town,” will be published November 16.

The book was co-written with journalist Harry Doherty and is expected to give the inside story of the band's days on the road.

The 160-page paperback is described as follows:

"One of the defining rock groups of the 20th Century, Thin Lizzy began life in Dublin in 1969 when childhood friends Phil Lynott and Brian Downey were approached by two former members of Van Morrison's band Them: Eric Wrixon (keyboards) and Eric Bell (guitar).

Now for the first time, their story is told by guitarist Scott Gorham and rock journalist Harry Doherty. The band's story is told by the people who were involved directly including former guitarists, road crew, management, family and friends. Their origins in Dublin as a three piece with the 'Whiskey In The Jar' single and a string of unsuccessful but highly creative albums. The move to London to chase the dream of being a major rock band. The chaotic arrival and departures of various members, including Eric Bell (who left the band mid-concert), Irish guitarist Gary Moore, Brian Robertson and co-author Scott Gorham.

How the album 'Jailbreak' and single 'Boys Are Back In Town' took the band to the top of the charts just as they were to become bankrupt. Includes stories of the band on the road, the drink and drugs and how the years of partying, drug-taking and non-stop touring eventually took its toll on not only the band members but on their families. The death of front man Phil Lynott and their legacy following his death."


Thin Lizzy – with Gorham – are currently in the studio working on new music.
